The Sutherlin FFA had three members go to Salem to compete in the Oregon State Fair. Austin Powell, Ross Grauf, and Adam Powell all competed in both Dairy Showman/Conformation and the livestock judging competition. They all did very well with Austin placing Grand Champion in commercial dairy and Adam being Reserve Grand Champion. Ross did very well in both events, placing first in his yearling hiefer class, and did very well in showmanship too.
When doing Livestock Judging CDE at the state level each member judges eight classes and gives three sets of reasons. This year the reasons were on breeding heifers, market lambs and breeding gilts. Sutherlin FFA was 18th overall in the Advance Competition.
